Poetry by Anissa Martell

Anissa’s mission in life is to continue to follow her unique calling and serve her community with as much love and light as possible, inspiring all hearts that come to know her gentle spirit.

Skinned

I have turned my skin insideout and found
that I am not in there
There is only sight of what has been done
and awareness of what has been undone
what causes my lungs to expand and
contracts my heart is not under my skin nor
behind my thin lids but a subtleness akin to
the sky and found deeper than Challenger
Deep
Limitation is only discovered by thought and
insisted by form that believes in limits
I permeate solid, liquid, gas and even ether.
Who am I trapped by skin with demands and
desire?
Clutched by a world that sees only what’s
skin deep.
The unimaginable is my realm.
The unknowable is my language.
The unchangeable is my name.
And skin has very little to do with what’s
here, at all.
So turn me inside out if you must but you
may reveal the same for yourself.
